About LouVue

LouVue makes Louisville's restaurant health inspection data easy to search, understand, and act on. Whether you're choosing where to eat or just curious about your favorite spot, we put the data at your fingertips.

Where the Data Comes From

All inspection data on LouVue is sourced directly from the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness. These are the official government records for food service establishment inspections across Louisville and Jefferson County, Kentucky.

LouVue does not conduct inspections. We retrieve the publicly available data from Louisville Metro Government's records and present it in a searchable, user-friendly format. Data is synced daily to reflect the latest inspection results.

How the Grading System Works

Louisville restaurants receive a letter grade based on their inspection score and whether any priority violations were found. Scores range from 0 to 100.

A

Grade A

A passing grade indicating a generally safe facility. Score of 85–100 with no priority violations — serious issues most likely to cause foodborne illness.

B

Grade B

Facility is "under review." Issued after failing two routine inspections in a row, or automatically during a follow-up if the facility had to close for an imminent health hazard.

C

Grade C

Facility has failed its inspection. Issued for any priority violation (even with a score as high as 98), a score below 85, or an imminent health hazard requiring closure.

Priority violations are the most serious — conditions most likely to cause foodborne illness, such as improper cold holding (below 41°F), inadequate cooking temperatures, or cross-contamination.
